Beautiful Dreams
She grabs her phone on the side of her bed
She turns it on
Just one tap
And she’s whisked away to bit world
The world on her fingertip
Tapping on the glass
Taking a peek of what’s out there through someone else’s window
Glancing snippets of lives’ flashy moments
The bad and sorrow hidden away
Screened by filters and forced laughters
Foregrounded by Mai Tai, engagement rings, and perfect partners
Tricked with make-ups, muscle cars, and inspirational quotes
But she seems content
Living life through other lives
Her head wrapped with a red cloth
Her vein infused with her only hope
She would dream
And imagine her feet on their shoes
How wonderful it must have been
To experience the outside world
But sometimes
A dream is a dream only
The flower petals are falling
The fruit baskets are starting to take too much space
Her bed is getting warm
So she would turn over
Drifting away
To her own Neverland
Perhaps it’s better to see from up there
All is revealed
The good, and the ugly
The fake, and the real
Maybe for once
She can actually see and feel
Anything in the outside world
She has always dreamed of
