Thoughts on Train
Our life is just like a moving train…
There is a destination, whatever and wherever it is.
“The trains always arrive at your station. The question is which one to take?” — Mehmet Murat Ildan
Along the way, there are many stops,
and it will take a while..
Sometimes it breaks down halfway through the journey,
or a third of the journey, or even at the beginning of the journey.
But it’s okay.
It will move again sooner or later,
slowly but surely,
to get to its final stop.
It’s a long ride, and it can also be a short one,
but we’ll eventually get there.
We might need to change to a different line, since the path is rarely straight to where we need to be in the end.
But again, that’s okay.
We’ll find different co-riders, different experiences, different route..
Yet our destination will always be there.
“Sometimes it breaks down halfway through the journey, or a third of the journey, or even at the beginning of the journey.”
Along the journey, we get bored, sleepy, and we wonder if there is something else we could have been doing instead of sitting idle.
We get antsy and anxious,
wondering if there is a faster way or a more efficient mode of transportation to get to our destination.
Maybe a car?
But there will always be traffic anyways, and we end up complaining and cursing others along the journey.
So better to stick with trains and enjoy the journey, isn’t it?
Life is predictable, yet very unpredictable.
Most of us have this idyllic future we’d like to have, a house to live in, a dream job, stuffs to own…
But there will always be unpredictable curfews and challenges thrown at us, and we rarely see them coming.
The path is never straight.
We find ourselves trying to find another avenue to get to our destination,
and that’s totally okay!
Just believe that you’ll eventually get there.
“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.” — Corrie ten Boom
A train wouldn’t move without its engineer.
Find that engineer.
Whether that be the God in the religion that you practice, or something else.
And most importantly, we need to put our faith on him/her/it.
Trust that they will do their job and get us to our destination.
A train operates efficiently when it can transport many people at once.
Not just one, not just two, but lots of individuals.
Cherish that.
Enjoy the company of others, because they make our life a lot more enjoyable before we get to our final destination.
