Pet Peeves Make Me Unique
The dictionary defines a pet peeve as “something that a particular person finds especially annoying.”
I’ve always found pet peeves to be very fascinating. Each person has their own set of pet peeves, and you can really start to understand their personalities & characteristics based on their quirky pet peeves. They tell so much character & they define how you behave.
Below is my bitter & sarcastic rant of things that annoy me:
1. The sound of packaged plastic bottles rubbing each other
I’m talking about the plastic bottles you can find in Walmart, which are typically bound together tightly about 24-count per package. Yes.. that sound it makes when you lift it up, or when you put it in the trunk of your car & you drive. If someone wants to drive me out of my sanity, just tie me on a chair & and torture me with those packaged plastic bottles. I assure you I won’t last long.
2. A person who is obscenely slow to make a decision
I just can’t stand a person who can’t even make the simplest decision. These decisions could be as simple as “Do you want the blue pen or the red pen?” to the more complicated question at work such as “What should be our next step for this project now that we know ABCDE?” Just be decisive.
3. A fridge full of expired food
I mean… come on… how hard is it to know what you have purchased, consume it before their expiration dates, and throw away those which are overdue? If you have leftover from your cooking yesterday, then FINISH it. Don’t just leave it in the fridge to rot, while you pile more leftovers from your food delivery the next day. Get a grip and be organized.
4. Loud car or motorcycle
Why? Someone tell me the purpose of why some people like to tune up their car or motorcycle so that it emits this extremely obnoxious loud roaring noise echoing to Mars, every time it starts moving at traffic lights? Enlighten me, please.
5. Not giving eye contact to me when speaking to me & my friend
I sometimes notice that when I & a friend next to me are talking to someone else, they only make eye contact with my friend… even if the questions come from me. Strangely, I found this annoying phenomenon happening a lot more often when I live in Iowa, compared to here in California. Not sure why.
6. When people are misplacing my stuff
Every single item in my apartment has its location. And so when someone comes to visit/stay, and they start misplacing/relocate my stuff, I get incredibly annoyed. It makes my mind so frazzled, and I can’t seem to stay still. It makes me anxious without me realizing it. Do I have a problem?
7. Not paying attention in movie nights
The purpose of having movie nights with friends is to watch movies together. And so it really annoys me when some people decide not to pay attention in the middle of a movie, and either they do something else, be on their phone, or leave. You just ruin my movie night! If that’s the case, you might as well stay home from the beginning or let’s call this night a non-movie night.
8. People who don’t know how / refuse to clean
I’m always confused about how people can live in a nice apartment/house, but they can’t keep it clean. It’s your living space, why don’t you maintain & clean it?
9. Chewing gum while talking in public or giving a presentation
Enough said.
