👋🏼 say hello.

Reflection from 14J

Reflection from 14J

Here I am..

Gazing out to the big blue canvas from my 14J seat, through a small window 30,000 feet up above the horizon.

30,000 feet from my problems, from my worries, from my responsibilities..

It almost feels like time stop ticking for the next 3.5 hours, and I’m completely cut out from the world — a satisfying unreachable void that separates me from reality.

There is something about being powerless that gives me such relief. Surrendering my being to someone else, or in this case a giant-ass moving piece of metal and mother nature. It puts me into this serene, tranquil, dormant state.

Like a bird who doesn’t have to worry about what’s to come, I don’t have to worry for what comes next for at least the next 3.5 hours.

The engine roar is my lullaby, the paper I’m writing on is my screen, and my pen is my pal.

Sometimes I wonder if I can take it one step further — to float myself out from this flying can and lay down on those fluffy clouds. Just me alone, with my thoughts & imaginations? No distraction, no social awkwardness, no worry of earthly possessions. Just silence.

Doesn’t it make you realize how tiny we are? And how shallow we can be sometimes being so dependent with technology, accolades, praise, and achievement?

It is this rare silent moment 30,000 feet up in the air that really helps me keep my feet planted on the ground.

Isn’t that such a mind-boggling ironic realization?
